This program calculates the mean U-value of a building envelope. (Any size or material). ** Instructions ** 1. Analyse the building. How many different building members does it consist of? It might be: roof or ceiling, wall, window, door, slab on ground etc. 2. Enter one building member at the time. (Use the row with white text boxes above.) If the building member consists of many layers, enter one at the time using the same ID for all. Click OK at the end of the row. The entry will be displayed in this text box. Continue with the rest of materials in the same way. Enter a different ID to indicate that you will start entering a new building member. Windows and doors have normally U-values supplied by the manufacturer. Use only the first three white text boxes to enter such information. + OK. This case might be true for precalculated slab-on-ground and basement walls too. Or even ready made walls or ceilings. 3. When all buiding members with all their layers are entered, click the button: Calculate U-value. The resulting U-value will be displayed below your entries, in this text box. Note a: All values in this text box are editable. You can change the values in brackets [x] and click the button: Calculate U-value, again. A new result is displayed below the previous. Exception: Never change values for air slots (sv. luftspalt). Note b: The results can be deleted before the new calculation is carried out. (Select + delete). Note c: The contents of this text box can be copied and pasted into a different program e.g. a word prosessor or notepad, and saved on your computer. At a later time or day you can paste it back in this textbox for additional or alternative calculations. You can even paste only the lines for a standard wall or other part that you use frequently. Or paste it into an e-mail to some coworker. Note d: The calculation is carried out in accordance with current standards and the resulting U-value is a weighted value from different calculation methods. This will often result in a slightly higher U-value than from simpler methods. Conforms to the swedish national building code BBR 19, 2013 and SS-EN ISO 13789:2007 and SS 024230 (2).
